Mailbox Monday: August 6th

Happy Monday!

We hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend. As we’ve learned, August is the month of leisure.

Here are some of the highlights from the past week (links embedded):

  • For all of you Jack Kerouac fans, you can now view his sketched vision of the cover for the classic On the Road. That’s not even the coolest part, check out a gallery of other, more interesting versions. We’re a fan of the original, but China’s version is a close second.
  • … Speaking of sketches, author Joshua Landsman wrote a Huffington Post article about his beautiful drawings of famous, inspiring authors for his sketchbook. Take a look at JD Salinger, Norman Mailer and more.
  • J. R. R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit will soon be coming to theaters, but those impatiently waiting like us can feast their eyes on the full trailer available online now.
  • We’ve always been fans of BlogHer, so it’s great to see the attention the site and it’s recent conference has been getting. I mean, President Obama addressed the conference via a live video feed. Read who else was involved and why BlogHer is (much) More than Mommy Bloggers.
  • In continuation to last week’s post re: the summer Olympics, we found this article on lessons to be learned from the “first social media Olympics” to be both informative and slightly startling with just how powerfully chaotic the internt is. Oh what a tangled web we weave.
  • Rumor has it: Apple is looking to buy The Fancy, a rival site of the photo-sharing phenomenon Pinterest. While we haven’t used The Fancy, we’re interested to see what will come of it in the future – we’re sure big things.

Have an opinion? Or just want to share other exciting news? Make it heard and drop us a comment or message! We’d love to hear from you.

Until next time..
