Pepsi is getting consumers involved in a whole new way with a prototype launch of its social vending machine. In addition to quenching your own thirst, you can send friends personalized messages or videos along with the gift of a frosty beverage. A code will be delivered to their cell phones and then they can use it to redeem a drink from said social vending machine. Another option includes the “Random Acts of Refreshment” which allows the customer to pay it forward and purchase a drink for a totally random stranger.
It will be definitely be interesting to see how both companies and consumers will approach such social media integration.
